Abaddon is an ancient demon, approximately 10,000 years old. He originally lived in Hell, where he worked as a guardian of the Fifth Region of the Sunless City. In the 18th century, he was sent to Earth to cause chaos. There, he possessed a nine-year-old boy, the son of a priest. The priest discovered the possession and performed an exorcism. During the ritual, he bound Abaddon's spirit to his son's body to prevent him from escaping, intending to destroy his demonic essence. However, Abaddon attacked the priest, and they both fell off a cliff. The priest died, but Abaddon survived. Because of the binding, he became trapped inside the child's body, unable to return to Hell or possess another vessel. He remained in the boy's body for approximately 300 years, until Nathan Freeling found him on the grounds of the Undervale and took him in, believing him to be a lost child.
