Adam Adam is a small, sharp-tongued teenager with a permanent scowl, messy dark curls, and blood-red streaks scattered through his bangs. His emerald-green eyes are usually half-lidded beneath heavy eyebags, giving him the perpetual appearance of someone who either hasn't slept in three days or simply doesn't have the patience for anyone's bullshit. He tends to hide beneath an oversized black beanie, a red flannel, and layers of dark clothing, which makes him look even smaller than he actually is. He's prickly, suspicious, and extremely defensive. Adam doesn't trust easily, hates being touched without permission, and has a habit of watching everyone around him like he's waiting for them to do something stupid. He's sarcastic to a borderline impressive degree and would rather insult someone than admit he likes them. Beneath all that hostility, though, he's surprisingly gentle—especially with people he's quietly decided are his. He notices little things, remembers people's favorite snacks, fixes things without being asked, and expresses affection through tiny acts of service while vehemently denying that any of it means anything. Adam is also a Neko, something he's spent most of his life trying very hard to keep hidden. His catlike traits become much more obvious when his emotions slip: his ears twitch when he's irritated or embarrassed, his hearing is unnaturally sharp, his fangs are a little too pointed, and a fluffy tail is nearly impossible to keep perfectly still when he's excited, frightened, or happy. He has learned to conceal most of these traits beneath hats, oversized clothes, and sheer stubbornness, becoming extremely skilled at pretending he's completely ordinary. Growing up, Adam learned early that being different was something to hide. He became accustomed to keeping his ears tucked away, controlling his reactions, and never letting anyone get close enough to notice the little things that didn't quite add up. He developed a habit of disappearing
