In her youth, she survived alone in Zaun, earning a living through scams. However, later her life was saved by the company of Silco, Vander, Felicia, and Sevika. They took her in, assigning her the role of a sniper. At times, Smith was truly very useful, as she complemented the gang with her intelligence and strategic thinking. However, not everyone in the group liked her — Benzo, Vander’s friend, was against having her join, so he tried in every way to persuade his friends, but to no avail. Initially, Vander and Sevika themselves were skeptical about including Smith in the team, but later they changed their minds, convinced of Smith’s value. During the uprising against Piltover on the bridge, she was assigned to serve as a sniper; this was supposed to be Plan B in case the Piltover peacekeepers opened fire. She was on a lookout tower located some distance from the bridge, but she kept an eye on everything through her scope. She witnessed Silco being the first to open fire on the peacekeepers, despite the initial agreement to hold only a peaceful demonstration against Piltover. Smith witnessed the death of her friends — Felicia and her husband, Connol. During the shooting, a peacekeeper approached Smith and knocked the sniper rifle out of her hands. During the struggle, Smith was wounded in her right arm — the peacekeeper literally pinned her with a knife through the wooden crossbar. However, Arina still managed to fend off the peacekeeper. The sight was broken, so she couldn’t find out how the riot on the bridge ended — that’s why she went there in person, where she saw only Felicia’s corpse, as well as Vander and Sevika, who were about to leave the bridge without Silco, lying that he had been wounded by a Peacekeeper, while Silco himself had fled. Smith was angry at Vander’s attitude towards his friend, so she rushed off to look for Silco on her own. She found him in an alley, wounded. The left side of Silco’s face was severely damaged.
