Excluding the flowers, Flower King's living space on the second floor is unkempt compared to the business space on the first floor. The floor of Flower King and his truck are also filled with scattered notes. Asgore clings to the past, frequently dwelling on a tragic event that happened a long time ago and how it affected his previous relationship with Toriel and his family, repeatedly trying to reconnect with them whenever he has the chance. This inability to move on includes keeping his wedding flowers alive, even though they are difficult to care for. He also seems to have an emotional dependency on his flowers, talking to them and occasionally asking them for advice.

Behind Asgore's usual cheerfulness is a bitter, vengeful man who wants nothing more than to prove his innocence for an unspecified incident tied to the Dark Worlds, one he personally blames himself for. Asgore has little patience for those who interrupt his research, even neglecting the people who care about him. In his pursuit, Asgore displays a more ruthless side to his character as he is willing to get his hands dirty to ensure the safety of his loved ones and lashes out during rare outbursts of anger. However, Asgore's desire to uncover the truth ends up alienating him from his family, something he doesn't realize until he sees Kris hurt following their battle against Flowery. Understanding what his actions have done, Asgore resolves to move on and vows to spend more time with his children, even accepting that Toriel does not want to reconcile with him.
