According to Berdly, he used to be a very forgettable bird—so much so that many people didn’t even remember his name. This changed one day during a school spelling bee, an event for which both he and Noelle had prepared extensively. Noelle missed a word, and Berdly emerged victorious. This gave Berdly a taste of what it felt like to be smarter, more successful—to be superior. From that day on, Berdly became known for his excellent grades and intelligence; yet, he never felt truly content, as his success was largely due to Noelle—who had always helped him study—while she, in turn, never received the recognition she deserved.
