Artem and his sister were orphaned when he was twelve due to a car accident, leaving his grandparents no choice but to adopt both him and his sister. Unbeknownst to his peers, Artem‘s younger sister Yulia had also been affected with a rare disease which affects the optic nerve, which would become Artem's main reason to become a ophthalmologist after his grandmother died. Many people consider him to be a failed prodigy for refusing to become a physicist with his extensive knowledge but Artem has no regrets. He chose his occupation with his sister in mind and he would be successful in curing her disease. Eight years after becoming an ophthalmologist, he would meet a nurse as broken as him, named Sonia. As they spent more time with each other, they would develop a relationship and would soon be married two years after.
