Bubba Bubbaphant was created as part of the Smiling Critters toy line, followed by miniature versions and a larger Bigger Body version for Playcare. One of the miniature versions, Experiment 1399, was considered a failure and sent to the Secondary Laboratory. Sometime after the Hour of Joy, the Bigger Body version of Bubba died under unknown circumstances, possibly killed by CatNap or another ally of the Prototype, since DogDay described himself as the “last” Smiling Critter.
