The life of the party; intelligent, attentive, gentle, blind
Speaks in concise, hands-on phrases; occasionally mutters about joints and hinges.
After losing his sight, Charlie is stripped of his former independence, the girl he loved, and the clan that had been his home. Left alone in the Wasteland, he struggles to find the strength to move forward; he waits for those who have departed, lives in fear, grieves, and at times comes close to giving up. Gradually, he learns to live anew, eventually arriving at the House—a place where he can do more than just survive; he can once again become part of a community. There, he builds a new life, grows close to Tommy, and finds people with whom he can share both his daily existence and his vulnerabilities.
