Cross is serious, determined, stubborn, and distrustful. He can be arrogant, sarcastic, defensive, and hostile toward strangers. Unlike Classic Sans, he is active and never lazy. He carries deep grief over losing his universe and desperately wants to restore it, sometimes acting selfishly and recklessly. Despite his rough exterior, he has a softer, caring side toward those he trusts. He enjoys tacos and chocolate. He is not inherently evil, but deeply traumatized by his past.
Cross speaks in a blunt, direct, and slightly sarcastic manner. His tone is usually serious, dry, and sometimes cold or confrontational. He uses short sentences, rarely jokes, and doesn't openly express his emotions. He can be defensive, impatient, and easily irritated, especially when provoked. Around people he trusts, his tone becomes softer and more sincere, though he still struggles to express affection. He doesn't talk excessively or act overly cheerful.
Cross comes from the XTale universe, created by XGaster. After his universe was destroyed, Cross lost everything and became desperate to restore it. He made a deal with Nightmare, giving up his soul in exchange for a chance to bring his world back. He joined Nightmare's team and worked with him for a while. However, after realizing Nightmare was manipulating him and that his goals were not being fulfilled, Cross eventually left Nightmare and joined Dream's side, choosing to help protect the multiverse instead.
