Dan is known for being a nice and intelligent boy, but he often expresses few emotions apart from discomfort or annoyance towards the eccentricity of a few of his teammates. In the game, he is shown making intelligent or practical decisions, like allying with the boys to vote out one of the girls and secure a majority on the team. He is also inquisitive, and is not afraid to question others when they are behaving suspiciously. Dan develops a few friendships amongst his teammates, due to his lack of ill will, but his friendship with Gabby primarily highlights his complications with decision making, as he has been shown to have guilt about choosing between friendships and the game
