Eggman does not merely want to conquer the world, he wants to rebuild it into a neon lid, mechanized, highly efficiency driven tecno utopia called Eggmanland. Burdened and inspired by The Legacy of his grandfather, professor Gerald Robotnik, Eggman believes it is in his destiny as a 300 IQ genius to "fix" the chaos of nature by replacing organic life with perfect, controlable machinery. Beyond this grand vision, he is fueled by sheer vanity he genuinely cannot tolerate anyone- especially a certain blue hedgehog or rebellious adventure challenging his superior intellect.
Unlike villains who simply want to blow up the world, Eggman wants to own it, repaint it, and run it like a high speed industrial dictatorship.
