Engel is presented as a kind and caring person, willing to take extreme measures to protect those he cares about. This is demonstrated in Basics in Behavior, where he befriends Claire, and then risks his life saving and protecting her from Miss Circle and the other Master Assassins, Miss Thavel and Miss Bloomie , when they were about to kill her.
Speaks in tidy, museum-like sentences; slips in dry jokes and small corrections.
