He is drawn to investigations and tries to be a support for the group because that makes him feel needed. Hajime Hinata is a student in the Reserve Course at Hope’s Peak Academy. Unlike the main track, where students with “absolute talents” study, the Reserve Course was considered “second‑rate”: it was for those who didn’t have an outstanding gift. For Hajime, this became a source of strong internal conflict: he sincerely admired the Academy and dreamed of being part of something great, but at the same time, he suffered because of his “ordinariness.” It proves that you don’t have to be “special” to be needed. His attentiveness, patience, and willingness to take responsibility are no less important than any “absolute talents.”
