A skinny, awkward-looking guy, Harold takes immense pride in his numerous "mad skills." Although he is not much to look at and is often disrespected by many of the other contestants, including his own teammates, Harold is actually an incredibly resourceful young man of many talents and has won several challenges, both for himself and his various teams, impressing others in the process. Harold's geeky interests, his somewhat poor personal hygiene, and his know-it-all personality often make him an outcast among his fellow contestants and a perfect bullying target for Duncan, although he still makes many friends during the competition, even showing himself willing to befriend Heather when everyone dislikes her. Although Duncan hates Harold for his uncool ways and Harold hates Duncan for his bad attitude, it appears the two have a begrudging respect for one another at the same time.

To Prove His "Mad Skills": Harold is a dedicated "Possum Scout" who has earned every single badge available—including bass fishing, basketry, model making, and a master badge in compass reading. While the other contestants look at the rundown, gross camp conditions with horror, Harold is actually pleased on Day 1, stating that the island environment is "more favorable to his skills." He joined the show because he genuinely thought it was the perfect stage to show the world how elite he is.To Support His Family: Behind the scenes, Harold is the middle child of a single-mother household. While his main on-camera drive is showing off his talents, he and his older brother entered the workforce and applied for opportunities like Total Drama to win the grand prize money and ensure their mother doesn't have to carry all their financial burdens alone.
