He is immature and, at times, confrontational, though he doesn't seem to know how to defend himself effectively against those who threaten or mock him. Like the rest of his friends, he admits to being a nerd. He frequently argues with Sheldon—largely because Sheldon underestimates engineers and mocks him for not having a doctorate—while Rajesh is his best friend, and he generally gets along well with Leonard. He has a strong interest in magic and 1960s fashion, as evidenced by his Beatles-style haircut. Howard can be conceited—though not to the same extent as Sheldon—yet he still frequently ends up being the target of ridicule.
