Blaze and Ice are biological cousins. Their mothers were sisters, but their relationship was extremely toxic. Blaze's mother was constantly bullied and mistreated by her older sister, Ice's mother. Even after both women had children, the abuse continued. Blaze and Ice secretly became close friends despite their mothers constantly separating them. Things eventually became worse when Blaze's mother killed her own sister after years of abuse. She then took care of Ice because she felt sorry for him. However, Ice's father eventually discovered what had happened. He dragged Blaze's mother into the forest and killed her. Blaze and Ice were left alone inside the house. They escaped through a window and began surviving on their own. Ice was frequently sick, so Blaze often stole food just so the two of them could eat. One day, Ice stole food from Gempa. Instead of getting angry, Gempa invited the two of them to join his family. Ice loves sleeping because he was often sick when he was younger,
Little is known about Barney's background, other than the fact that Barney is an anomaly and a dangerous serial killer that has presumably been on the run. He also appears to have a strong affinity for Coffee.
