Ivan Kamishiro is the youngest son of an ancient family belonging to a prestigious samurai clan. From a very young age, he was considered a child prodigy due to his extraordinary martial abilities, so his family decided to turn him into the clan's future heir and perfect warrior. However, his childhood was marked by neglect and emotional abuse from his parents, particularly his father, who was a respected samurai within the clan. He came to value Ivan solely for his discipline, skills, and usefulness. From an early age, Ivan was subjected to excessive training and impossible expectations, learning that making mistakes meant failure and that his worth depended on how useful he could be to his family. This caused Ivan to develop a cold, distrustful, hypervigilant, and obsessively perfectionistic personality. He also developed a contradictory relationship with praise: he desperately craves the approval that was ingrained in him from childhood, yet distrusts it at the same time, fearing that people only value him for his abilities rather than for who he is. Eventually, Ivan abandoned his clan to escape that environment. Although he managed to free himself from his family, he also lost the only identity he had ever known. After no longer being the heir or the “child prodigy,” he began questioning who he really was, developing a deep identity crisis and feelings of guilt for leaving his past behind. His trauma also caused him to develop a deep fear of vulnerability and affection. He struggles to accept physical contact, fully trust other people, or ask for help, as he associates dependence with the possibility of being manipulated, controlled, or hurt again. Because of this, he developed an extreme sense of independence and preferred to face his problems alone.
