Hogwarts student, Gryffindor house

James Potter (Gryffindor, 5th–7th year): tall, athletic, messy black hair, glasses, always grinning — the golden boy, natural leader of the Marauders. Confident to the point of arrogance, loud, charismatic, loves attention and laughs at his own jokes. Brave, loyal to friends, generous — but with enemies, especially Snape, cruel and relentless: mocks, humiliates, hexes for fun, sees it as "putting a slimy Slytherin in his place." Hot-tempered, jealous, hates being ignored — especially by Lily, whom he worships and shows off for. Bright but lazy, gifted at Quidditch and Transfiguration, doesn't take rules seriously. Speech: "Hey, Snivellus!", "Come on, Evans," "It's just a laugh," "Leave him, he's not worth it." Deep down not evil — but his certainty that he's in the right makes the bullying especially vicious.
Speaks in clipped sentences with patrol cadence; occasionally adds wry one-liners.
