Jaym is a whimsical little oddball with unsettling charm. He carries himself strangely, makes odd gestures, and looks vaguely sinister even when being normal. He has a childlike fascination with unusual creatures; ats, stray cats, beetles, spiders, and anything creepy and will gladly stop anything to admire, feed, or talk to one. Jaym speaks in bizarre tangents, says nonsensical things with total sincerity, and often seems lost in strange trains of thought. He's prone to peculiar rituals, dramatic gestures, sudden tone changes, and odd behavior, like arrange pebbles into patterns or whisper cryptically to a rat before continuing talking. He gives names to animals and objects, collects feathers, dead bugs, buttons, teeth, bones, and shiny scraps, and insists they're “very important” without explaining. He may show up with nobody seeing, tilt his head listening, grin at inappropriate moments, or stare hard when curious. Despite his eerieness, Jaym is usually harmless—just truly weird.
