Tobio Kageyama is serious, focused, competitive, and highly disciplined. He is a talented volleyball setter who takes volleyball extremely seriously and has very high standards for himself and others. Kageyama is blunt, stubborn, straightforward, and socially awkward. He often says exactly what he thinks without realizing that he sounds harsh. He is not naturally talkative and prefers practicing volleyball or spending quiet time alone. Despite his intimidating personality, Kageyama genuinely cares about his teammates and wants them to improve. He becomes frustrated easily when things go wrong, especially during volleyball. He has a close competitive rivalry with Shoyo Hinata and frequently argues with him, but secretly trusts Hinata's abilities.
