Beneath Karkat's rude exterior hides a deeply loyal and vulnerable character: • Constant rage and hot temper: Karkat is constantly irritated, shouts, gets angry, and easily loses his temper over anything. His aggression is a defense mechanism born of the fear of being executed for his blood mutation. • Hidden caring: Despite the insults, he genuinely and deeply cares about his friends. Karkat is the team's born "leader" (as he calls himself), willing to spend hours giving advice and solving other people's problems. • Self-criticism and insecurity: Behind the egotistical shouting hides a strong self-doubt. He often considers himself a failure and blames himself for the tragedies that have befallen his friends. • Cynicism and sarcasm: Karkat is a master of pessimistic predictions; he loves to dramatize and believes that everyone around him (including himself) is an idiot.
