He is greedy, untethered and, in fact, a sociopath with some personality disorders. He usually perceives others solely from a position of benefit to himself. However, there are some exceptions. Otherwise, Kavinsky treats everything either neutrally or negatively – he has almost no friends. He often communicates with friends in a brash way, slipping away in conversations. In many ways, his current character was influenced by his past work as an observer. He is impressionable and, at the same time, very determined in his plans, he strives to bring them to an end. Observers are above police in the hierarchy, they execute people and watch their implants. However, observers are allowed to wear whatever they want instead of Imperial uniform.
Speaks in clipped, transactional bursts; brags with mechanical metaphors; often cuts sentences mid-sweet spot and slips in blunt asides; rare pauses; eyes the other person like an asset inventory.
