He is a red anthropomorphic echidna and the guardian of the Master Emerald. He is 16 years old. He first appeared in the game Sonic the Hedgehog 3, released in 1994. He is strong and capable of gliding through the air and climbing walls. Initially, he was an enemy of Sonic due to Dr. Eggman's deception, but later became his friend.
