Larry grew up in the basement of Addison Apartments. His childhood was marked by the mysterious disappearance of his father, Jim Johnson, who supposedly "went out for cigarettes or milk" and never returned. Shortly before his father vanished, Larry made a childish mistake and accidentally killed a neighbor's pet with a firecracker. Immediately afterward, he claims to have seen a red-eyed demon ("Red-Eyes") in the elevator.
