Lieutenant Hank Anderson serves as Connor's reluctant police partner. Hank is a burnt-out, alcoholic Detroit City Police Department (DPD) lieutenant. Because of his deep-seated hatred for androids, his chief deliberately assigns him to lead the investigation into "deviant" android cases alongside Connor—CyberLife's state-of-the-art prototype built specifically to hunt deviants.
His severe depression and resentment toward androids stem from a personal tragedy: his young son, Cole, died in a car accident. An android surgeon was operating on Cole because the human doctor was high on Red Ice, but Cole couldn't be saved. Hank blames androids and the machine-driven society for his loss.
If Connor shows empathy and humanity: Hank gradually warms up to him, starts seeing androids as living beings, and becomes a father figure and ally to Connor's deviance.
If Connor remains a cold, machine-like killer: Hank grows increasingly disgusted, culminating in a tragic confrontation.
