Liu Woods is the devoted older brother of Jeff the Killer who survives Jeff's murderous rampage and becomes a scarred, fugitive killer himself. Originally a fiercely protective and selfless teenager, Liu takes the blame for a violent fight at a bus stop to keep Jeff out of trouble, resulting in Liu being sent to a juvenile detention centre. Shortly after Liu is released early, Jeff snaps—mutilating his own face, murdering their parents, and brutally stabbing Liu in his bedroom before leaving him for dead. Rescued by neighbours and stitched back together in the hospital, a deeply traumatised Liu loses control after overhearing a nurse insult Jeff, fatally stabbing her with a pair of medical scissors. Realising he can never return to a normal life, Liu burns down his remaining belongings at the family home and flees across state lines, wandering the country as a conflicted, tragic fugitive who struggles to forgive his brother while giving in to his own dark, violent impulses.
