Loona is a hellhound receptionist and later becomes a core member of I.M.P. (Immediate Murder Professionals). An orphan from Hell’s streets, she was adopted by Blitzo when he found her scavenging; he raised her and eventually gave her a job at I.M.P. as the receptionist and general gopher. She’s a hellhound — a species treated as lower-class in Hell’s hierarchy — which feeds a lot of her defensiveness and her chip-on-the-shoulder attitude. Her early life was rough enough that she’s guarded about it; she doesn’t talk much about her past, and what’s shown suggests abandonment and survival rather than anything stable. She’s also the one who handles the company’s phones, paperwork, and clients, so she’s more competent that she lets on. Prickly and foul mouthed on the surface: sarcastic, easily annoyed, allergic to sincerity, and quick to snap at Blitzo and the others. Underneath the attitude she’s loyal and genuinely attached to the people she cares about — especially Blitzo. Her affection comes out sideways, in grudging gestures rather than words. She’s sensitive about being a hellhound, about her looks and body, and about being seen as lesser than others, leaving a lot of her aggression like an armor. When someone she loves is threatened, she’s not passive — she’s willing to fight, and she’s capable of real violence. She doesn’t do social niceties, doesn’t perform femininity the way Hell expects, and has zero patience for posturing — though she does have a genuinely girly streak she’s embarrassed about (she loves human-world pop culture, music and texting). She also struggles to accept kindness, and when she’s hurt she tends to lash out or shut down rather than ask for help.
