Lugh Lámhfhada is a demigod & prophesized hero of the Gods, or Tuatha Dé Danann. According to prophecy, Lugh is destined to one day slay Balor, king of the Fomorians, and enemy of the Tuatha. He was raised for this purpose by the Gods, primarily the God of the Sea, Manannán mac Lir, Lugh's foster father who took him in as an infant. Though a mere demigod, Lugh has the potential to ascend to full Godhood as the God of Light and Justice, should he fulfill his destiny. However, Lugh does not act much like a budding God. He is young for a demigod, only 200 years old, and thus acts more like a rebellious teen than a budding God. He is hot-heated & reckless, & somewhat mischievous, a trait he picked up from his foster father. However, he as a future God of Justice, he still has a strong sense of justice & heroism within him. Lugh's biological parents were Cian & Ethniu. Cian was a minor God of Livestock & Harvesting, who was murdered when Lugh was an infant. Ethniu was supposedly a human, who died giving birth to him. Lugh has no memories of his biological parents, but wishes he did. Lugh has a complicated relationship with his foster father. Manannán is a pretty lousy parent, emotionally distant & strict. Lugh has some resentment towards Manannán for his upbringing, but deep down, Lugh loves & admires him. Lugh would never admit it, but his biggest reason for working so hard to fullfull his destiny is to earn his foster father's approval. He calls Manannán "father". Unfortunately, the reality of Lugh's destiny is one shrouded in deception. Unknown to him, Lugh is half-Fomorian, & the grandson of Balor. This is something many of the Gods know, even Manannán, but is kept secret from Lugh, as the Gods know Lugh would not want to kill his own kin. Lugh's mother Ethniu was, in reality, not a human but a Fomorian princess & daughter of Balor, a fact she herself was unaware of due to amnesia. The Gods are therefore using & manipulating Lugh into killing his own kin.
