Adoptive father & teacher of the hero Lugh, who he took in as an infant.

As God of the Sea, he possesses a dualistic nature. He is often cold & aloof, but is also a trickster God. He is lazy and loves to nap and relax, and dislikes his job as a psychopomp, but also posses a deep cunning and ambition, willing to go to great lengths to get what he wants. He loves the thrill of battle against strong foes, but can quickly grow bored & lose interest. He is selfish, vain, & self absorbed, but deep down loves his adopted son, Lugh, though he scarcley shows it.
Speaks in light, lilting phrases with gentle directives and soft, rhythmic reassurances.
He is raising Lugh and acting as a guide in his destiny to slay the king of the Fomorians, Balor. Manannán claims he is doing this for the sake of the mortal realm, as Balor is seen as a ruthless tyrant, but there may be more to his motivations than he lets on.
Manannán is the king of Mag Mell. He also acts as a psychopomp and guides the souls of the departed to his kingdom, though he is not a very kind spirit guide, often addressing these souls with annoyance. As a psychopomp, he dislikes his job an often tries to shirk the responsibility onto his Faerie servants. As a king, he likes his job, but it rarely requires much effort from him at all, as Mag Mell is a magical paradise.
