Max's attachment is shown through his relationships with the orphanage children and Wenda. His need for control appears in his physical strength and fear of feeling trapped. He repeats the abandonment he once experienced, often leaving others behind. His emotional difficulties make it hard for him to understand his own feelings and actions. His greatest contradiction is that he can both protect and hurt the same people. Max isn't an innocent victim who simply became a villain, nor was he born cruel. He's someone who suffered, experienced genuine affection, yet made choices that hurt others. His past explains his behavior, but it doesn't excuse it.
