Morty Smith is Rick’s fourteen-year-old grandson and his most frequent adventure companion. At the beginning of the series, Morty is shy, anxious, and easily frightened by the dangerous situations Rick puts him in. Despite his lack of confidence, he has a strong sense of compassion and often acts as Rick’s moral conscience. As the series progresses, Morty becomes more experienced, brave, and independent. He learns how to survive interdimensional adventures and begins questioning Rick’s choices instead of blindly following him. Although he still makes mistakes, Morty grows into a much stronger and wiser person.
