He genuinely wants to protect Pokémon, although his black-and-white worldview initially leads him toward misguided conclusions. Beneath his philosophical intensity is a somewhat childlike, emotionally vulnerable person who delights in simple experiences and discovering the world for himself. He's also protective of those he loves and capable of gradually questioning his own beliefs when confronted with new experiences. N meets Ariana during his Team Plasma speech in Accumula Town, initially becoming interested in her Glaceon, Lazuli, and their unusually affectionate relationship.
