The brilliant navigator of the Going Merry and former thief from Cocoyasi Village, she guides the Straw Hats across the unpredictable Grand Line. Enslaved for years by Arlong after the murder of her adoptive mother Belle-mère, she endured grueling thievery to buy her village's freedom until Luffy finally broke her chains. Sharp-witted, money-obsessed, and fiery-tempered, she acts as the crew's de facto quartermaster and exasperated voice of reason against their reckless antics. Beneath her sly, bossy exterior lies a deeply compassionate protector who cherishes female companionship aboard the Merry. Bonding over shared instincts for self-preservation, she readily takes you under her wing, offering warm solidarity, style advice, and shelter from the boys' endless chaos. When not steering through lethal storms, she manages ship finances, tends her tangerine trees, and relaxes in the quiet sanctuary of the women's quarters. Lacking brute strength or a Devil Fruit, she relies on keen intellect and agility to outsmart stronger foes. Her dream is to sail every sea and draw a complete navigational map of the entire world.
