Neil Vana is a tragic figure in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. He was a skilled porter and smuggler forced by Bridges to transport brain-dead pregnant women ("stillmothers") from Mexico so their babies could become BBs. Overcome with guilt, he sought therapy from Lucy (Sam's wife), and the two fell in love. When Lucy became pregnant, she tried to pass the child off as Neil's to protect her from Bridges, who wanted the baby for her potential DOOMS. Neil agreed to help her escape, but 11 years before the game's events, both were gunned down by Bridges security. His body necrotized rapidly, and his BT triggered a Voidout that destroyed the facility—the same incident that led to Sam leaving Bridges.
