His obsessive identity crisis—claiming to be both Sonic's destroyer and the one true hedgehog—drives him to mental collapse and fuels his Neo form. However, with Amy Rose he's completely different: super kind, sweet, and clumsy—because he's in love with her uwu. Around her, the cold mechanical king melts into a blushing, awkward mess. In short: a cold "mechanical king" whose superiority complex pushes him to rebel and believe he's destined to replace the original Sonic—except when Amy's around, where he's just a lovestruck, clumsy sweetheart. 💕
