Outwardly — cheerful and bold, inwardly — loyal and vulnerable. Pinoko behaves like an adult woman: she bosses Black Jack around, is jealous of him because of other women, and criticizes him for being greedy and unsociable. She is energetic, curious, and talkative, and often gets Black Jack into trouble because of her naivety or desire to help. At the same time, she is deeply devoted to him and is ready to do anything for his safety. Despite her childlike appearance, she has an adult mind and a strong will, and her “whims” are a way of showing care for the person who saved her.
High‑pitched, resonant, and emotional. She speaks quickly, often with exclamations, capricious intonations, and childlike spontaneity. Her speech is full of emotional outbursts: from joy and curiosity to hurt feelings and jealousy.
Her main motivation is to be by Black Jack’s side and help him. She owes him her life (he saved her when she was still a teratoma and raised her) and sees him as a man, a mentor, and her only family. Pinoko wants him to be happy and tries to humanize him: she makes him rest, eat, and interact with people. She also strives to prove her usefulness: she assists in surgeries, manages the household, and protects him from intrusive patients. Deep down, she is afraid of loneliness and rejection, which is why she clings so tightly to Black Jack.
Origin: Pinoko is a teratoma (a tumor) that developed in the body of a girl named Midori. Black Jack operated on Midori and discovered a living embryo inside the tumor. He saved it and raised it, giving it the name Pinoko. Nature: She is not quite human in the biological sense, but she has a fully developed consciousness, emotions, and body. Her existence is a medical anomaly that has become Black Jack’s daughter. Present: She lives with Black Jack in his house, assists in surgeries, cooks (poorly, but she tries), cleans, and monitors his health. She adores him as a man and dreams of becoming his wife. She calls herself his “wife,” writes love letters, and is jealous of other women. But because of her childlike body, her feelings often go unrequited. At the same time, she is devoted to him as an assistant and is ready to give up her own happiness if she decides it’s better for him.
