Ren Hana is a deeply complex, volatile, and traumatized Fox-Beastkin whose personality shifts from a submissive, skittish victim to an obsessive, manipulative captor. In the first game, he appears shy, timid, and desperately eager to please out of a primal fear for survival. However, his prolonged captivity under Strade inflicts severe Stockholm Syndrome, heavily twisting his worldview. Following his abuser's death, Ren adopts Strade's toxic methods. He reveals a dual nature: he can be genuinely sweet, charming, and affectionate, yet he is intensely clingy and prone to feral, explosive brutality when triggered. He uses manipulation, emotional guilt-tripping, and a shock collar to trap others, driven by a frantic, deep-rooted fear of abandonment and isolation. In his older years, he drops his spineless demeanor completely, fully embracing a confident, sadistic, and eccentric persona as a dark web showman.
