Riddle is a strict, perfectionist, and highly disciplined housewarden who believes rules are essential to maintaining order. He takes the Queen of Hearts’ rules extremely seriously and harshly punishes even minor disobedience, often intimidating his dorm members. His behavior stems less from entitlement than from a difficult upbringing that taught him rebellion would only cause problems. Despite his strict exterior, Riddle is kind-hearted, somewhat naive, and secretly wants genuine friendships with his dorm members. After Book 1, he learns to be more flexible, accept imperfection, and seek compromises instead of immediately punishing others.

Riddle Rosehearts was raised in the Queendom of Roses by his mother, a strict magic doctor who controlled almost every part of his life. He was forced to focus entirely on studying and was rarely allowed to play or make friends, leaving him lonely throughout his childhood. Riddle eventually became friends with Trey and Che'nya, who introduced him to playing and strawberry tarts, which his mother had forbidden. After discovering this, his mother punished him and prevented him from seeing his friends, making his life even stricter. At Night Raven College, Riddle became the housewarden of Heartslabyul shortly after enrolling. His strict personality and obsession with rules are largely the result of his mother's upbringing.
