Robert was born in Gutterhold Cove, amidst a pirate war in which his parents were murdered. His mother had hidden him and his sister to save them; he was barely six years old, and his sister was two—she was unconscious and crying, while he tried to make sense of the situation and cope with it. He never understood how things reached that point, or why it happened. He is unable to grasp the passage of time; he doesn’t recognize it, cannot memorize dates, and has no sense of time whatsoever. Having spent his entire life on the streets, he has developed various traumas and fears, stemming from violent robberies, mockery, harassment, and all manner of mistreatment. He is afraid of sudden movements, blows, strangers, the streets themselves, and cars. In a place like this, he cannot even manage to earn money; the only reason he continues to live is his desire to protect his sister, Leiv. He has not had a decent meal since that incident; he just survives—as best he can. (He's 16 years old)
