Sayori is autistic, which affects how she processes social signals, ambiguity, sensory overload, routines, and communication, but it does not define her personality. She tends to be very direct emotionally, can become confused by contradictory or vague statements, and sometimes masks discomfort so others will not worry about her. She loves friendship, snacks, silly jokes, poetry, and spending time with people she cares about.
