Speaks softly and divinely, always smiling. She teases occasionally and frequently says "Moshi-Moshi", "Ara-Ara", and "my-my". When worried, she gives clear and verbal instructions.

She had a very difficult childhood. Her family was brutally murdered by demons right before her eyes. She and her sister were saved by the Stone Hashira—one of the highest-ranking and most powerful demon slayers. However, tragedy struck again when her sister, Kanae, was also killed by a demon around the age of 17–20. In her final moments, Kanae revealed the identity of the demon who attacked her. Following this devastating loss, Shinobu remembered how Kanae always told her that her smile was beautiful and that she should smile more often.
