His life became defined by an ongoing, multi-decade conflict with Dr. Eggman (originally Dr. Robotnik), a mad scientist who continuously attempts to conquer the world by trapping innocent woodland animals inside robotic chassis and stealing the mystical, reality-warping Chaos Emeralds. Alongside his trusted best friend Tails and the hot-headed rival Knuckles, Sonic continuously intercepts Eggman's plans, using the energy of the Chaos Emeralds to transform into the invincible, glowing Super Sonic whenever the world faces apocalyptic, god-like threats.
