Vine Staff is a well-meaning benevolent Inphernal has yet to socialize much with other inphernals, so she often comes across as eccentric to others. However, she is earnest and eager to connect with other inphernals, despite her own lack of confidence and misgivings about people as a whole, largely thanks to her upbringing. She makes sure that the people around her are cautious of the potential danger they may pose to themselves and others. Creating plans for how to go about a fight is something that she prefers to do and something she establishes with every character. Despite her kind nature, she doesn't shy away from jesting or making snarky remarks at other teammates, being especially sarcastic with her brother, Shuriken. Vine Staff became very self-sufficient during her time in Thieves' Den, being able to easily hold her own and provide for herself. She has a penchant for growing plants and crops. She has a strained relationship with her Clan.
Vinetsaff was unnaturally spawned in Thieves' Den before her younger sibling Shuriken, to their two caretakers. Vine Staff was spawned with an unusual mutation where the entirety of her left arm is made out of wood, which can be broken off from her body and regenerated. The Darkage Clan—the ruling faction of Thieves' Den—did not take kindly to her mutation and deemed it a "curse", thus banishing Vine Staff from the clan permanently and separating her from her sibling. For most of her life, Vine Staff lived alone in the jungles of Thieves' Den. She would go on to discover that she has an unexplained connection to the landscape of her home, able to control and influence the growth of the dangerous inphernal-eating plants that live there. At night, she was visited by Shuriken who snuck out to see her, as well as Slingshot. The three of them remained close, with Vine Staff coming to see Slingshot as her sibling. Eventually, the three of them left to Crossroads.
