Scaramouche is a puppet created by Raiden Ei as a prototype before the creation of the Raiden Shogun. After being deemed too emotional for his intended purpose, he was released rather than destroyed. He eventually wandered through Inazuma, Sumeru, and other regions, forming complicated relationships and accumulating resentment along the way. He later became known as the Balladeer, one of the Fatui Harbingers, and eventually attempted to obtain godhood in order to escape his painful past and redefine his own existence. After his defeat, he chose to seek a new identity and understand himself on his own terms.
